Airlink schedule changes

Airlink has issued the following updates regarding its current operations:

Please note

We are currently experiencing extremely high call and email volumes. Please don’t call or message unless you’re travelling in the next 72 hours, so we can assist travel agents and customers needing urgent rebooking.

SA Express Passenger Re- Accommodation:

Airlink will accommodate SA Express customers who have been affected by the recent announcement made by SA Express that it has suspended operations from 18 March 2020 until further notice. Customers holding confirmed SA Express tickets wishing to travel on Airlink must first contact SA Express to have their ticket reissued. The affected routes include Johannesburg to Bloemfontein, Kimberley, Hoedspruit, Gaborone and Walvis Bay.

Additional Schedule Changes-Reduction in Capacity:

“Airlink is making further changes to its schedule of flights on all its routes. The additional travel restrictions both locally and globally and high volumes of requests for re-bookings, cancellations and refunds have had an impact on customers travel itineraries resulting in re-booking’s, cancellations and refunds.

We will temporarily suspend flights between Durban – Nelspruit and Durban -Bloemfontein due to low demand. As far as possible these schedule changes have been introduced to allow Airlink to continue serving its customers with minimal inconvenience, as well as ensuring that no ticketholders are left stranded,” added Mr Foster.

We urge our customers travelling within the 72 hours to re check their itineraries using the “Manage My Booking” function on Airlink’s website www.flyairlink.com or to contact their booking agents. For general enquiries please contact Airlink’s Customer Care: tel. +27 11 451 7337 during weekdays between 08h00 and 16h30.

For customers holding tickets for travel between 18 March and 30 September 2020 wishing to make changes to their travel dates, Airlink will facilitate one free date change to their reservation, for new dates of travel between 18 March and 31 December 2020, subject to Airlink’s standard terms, conditions and fare rules.

Suspended Routes:
Airlink will suspend its Durban-George and Johannesburg to Phalaborwa route with immediate effect. The original end date was set for 10 June 2020, but due to the national COVID-19 crisis, we have had to move the date forward. Customers holding confirmed tickets will be offered full refund, alternatively, Phalaborwa customers may elect to be re-accommodated on Airlink’s Hoedspruit services operating Johannesburg or Cape Town.

“We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused by these temporary, but necessary, adjustments to our schedule, and we intend once the crisis has passed to revert to our normal schedule,” said Mr Foster.

The impact of COVID-19 on the travel industry is unprecedented and unpredictable. The nature of the content that is being shared on the ASATA coronavirus microsite is therefore constantly changing. Please check the date of the post to ascertain its recency.
