TBCSA MOU to expedite Tourism and Travel
The Travel and Tourism sector are amongst the two industries that will enjoy expedited payments of UIF TERS to employees affected by COVID-19 during South Africa’s national lockdown. The TBCSA has signed a three-month agreement to this effect with the Department of Labour and the UIF.
All new applications must now be done online. There is only the date period of 27 March to 30 April that can be selected currently.
- All documents as required to be submitted to UIF online via https://uifecc.labour.gov.za/covid19/.
- You must also lodge your application details on the following link in order for TBCSA to monitor progress with UIF: https://covid19ters.typeform.com/to/ID2B0H.
How do I find out whether I have a UIF registration number and what it is?
The Covid-19 TERS online portal has created a functionality whereby Employers can check whether they have a UIF reference number. On the home page that is an option “Get your UIF Reference Number”. Employers need to enter their PAYE number and the system will then automatically provide the UIF reference number, if the Employer is in fact registered.

How can I register for UIF if I am not registered?
Contact Jacquelène Naudè from MPOnline
Or visit the UIF website to register.
You can also visit www.bizportal.gov.za to register your company.
We have contributed to UIF and paid contributions over to SARS but do not have a UIF registration number. How does this work?
This is two different numbers. It can happen that an Employer has a UIF reference number with SARS but not a UIF registration number with the Department of Labour. If you pay the contributions to SARS, contributions must still be declared to Department of Labour.
If you are not registered as Employer with the Department of Labour, UIF claims will not be accepted.
