Department of Transport gazettes new cruising regulations

The Department of Transport has gazetted new regulations for the cruising industry.
 
The new regulations stipulate, among others, that embarkation and disembarkation of passengers is suspended on all sea ports until further notice unless under the following circumstances:

  1. disembarkation of a returning South African citizen and a permanent resident.
  2. embarkation of a departing foreign national.
  3. emergency medical evacuation shall be managed utilising the existing Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre protocols.

South African citizens and permanent residents are advised to refrain from use of this form of travel until further notice.
