The Department of Transport has issued a Government Gazette outlining the directions to address, prevent and combat the spread of COVID-19 in Sea PortsThe Gazette stipulates the prohibition on cruise ships calling at any of the sea ports.


No crew changes are permitted in all commercial ports until further notice.


Cruise ships are prohibited from calling at any of the sea ports except the disembarkation of a returning South African crew and a permanent resident.

The Gazette further addresses improved hygiene controls as well as implementation of a tracking, tracing and monitoring system at sea ports.
